Mansarovar ↔ Badi Chaupar

The Pink Line is the first and so far only line of the Jaipur Metro, operated by the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC). Its first section (Mansarovar → Chandpole) opened on 3 June 2015, when Jaipur became the first Indian city to run an underground metro section. The line was extended into the old city to Badi Chaupar on 23 September 2020.

The line runs elevated on a viaduct from Mansarovar in the west across the city — past New Aatish Market, Civil Lines and the Railway Station (Jaipur Junction) — to Sindhi Camp by the central bus stand. From there it dives underground beneath the walled old city, with stations at Chandpole, Chhoti Chaupar and Badi Chaupar — the stop for the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal.

Trains run daily from about 06:00 to 22:00, every 10 minutes at peak and ~15 minutes off-peak. Fares are distance-banded from ₹10 (~$0.12) to ₹30 (~$0.36), paid by token or a rechargeable smart card. An Orange Line (Phase 2) is approved but still under construction.

Did you know?

  • Jaipur was the first city in India to open an underground metro section, when the Pink Line reached Chandpole in 2015.
  • The eastern end runs underground beneath the 18th-century walled city, with Badi Chaupar right by the City Palace and Hawa Mahal.
  • The line is branded the Pink Line after Jaipur’s nickname, the “Pink City”.
  • Trains are BEML-built standard-gauge sets running on 25 kV overhead power.

Connections and interchange

The Pink Line connects to other transport at two key stations: Railway Station sits beside Jaipur Junction for Indian Railways services, and Sindhi Camp is next to the city’s main intercity bus stand.

At street level, every station has city-bus stops, auto-rickshaws and app cabs (Ola, Uber). The planned Orange Line is expected to interchange with the Pink Line near Sindhi Camp once it is built. There are no metro-to-metro transfers today, as the Pink Line is the only operating line.
